# I Do

I have not written in quite some time however this weekend was chock full of everything and boy was it fun.

Starting on Friday I hopefully took the CT Foundations of Reading test for the last time.  After studying for 3 days non-stop, involving my students in practice test grading and reviewing everything I know about teaching reading I took my test and afterward felt fantastic.  I left the test center feeling so positive and confident in my abilities.
All I can focus on now is my trip to Punta Cana that is coming up in a week!!! I can not wait!!!!!!!!!!!

After school Friday I went to a co-workers house where I had my first end of year staff party.  I can not imagine spending a night with any people who are more fun than my co-workers.  We had a great night full of drinking, chatting and playing minute to win it... two of those should not mix.... can you guess which two lol.
Vaseline and cotton balls + drinks = to many laughs to count.

After an amazing night with my co-workers I had the chance to celebrate my former co-worker/boss/friends wedding to her wonderful new husband.  Having never attended a wedding with my boyfriend, sans parents, it was quite the night.  The bride was stunning and took everyone, including the groom's breath away.  The decorations were perfect in every aspect and truly reflected the style of the bride and groom and of course the night was full of fun and drinks and food and love. I can not picture two people who are more perfect for one another.

The bride put so many adorable personal touches into this wedding weekend.
My two best friends and my bubba in the middle.

How lovely are those center pieces.

After going to bed at 3 am, I took today to recoup and spend time with my favorite guy (besides bubba).  This weekend made me think so my own future and how everything is beginning to fall into place.  Who knows, maybe in a few years we will be celebrating my wedding and I will be sharing all the joy in my life.

Finally, Happy Fathers Day Dad.  You have helped me become the person I am today.  I love you

I realize...

As a grad student and a full time teacher stress is not something that is new to me.  This year alone I have had more headaches, acne break outs, chocolate binges and one very irritating case of shingles than ever before.  Through it all, one thing was for sure, no matter how hard you try to stay on top of things, when you have no time, that is the time that all your work seems to pile up.

At the end of the year a teacher is at their most stressed.  Not only are the students ready to have fun in the sun and couldn't give a crap what we have planned.  But we also have all of our end of year tasks ahead of us.  Report cards, reading assessments, writing samples, you name it, we have to get it done.  And to top it off we have to make sure our classroom is packed and organized for the following year.

Now this amount of work could drive any teacher to have late nights and a stressful last week of school, but in my case add a 25 page term paper due on the last day of school and you have one teacher ready to pull her hair out.

Now by this point you probably think I am just a big complainer who doesn't know how to suck it up for eight days.  I mean really your a teacher, you get the whole summer off.  I don't want this post to seem like a whiny person who can't tough it out.  What this post is meant to be is my personal 'ah" moment.

As a student you only got to see one side of the world of education.  As a student we didn't see the hours of planning and prep that goes into one days teaching.  As a student we didn't see the late nights  creating power points or charts for the next days lesson.  In the eyes of the student, the teacher is someone who just always has everything they need ready to do.

This post is a THANK YOU to all the teachers I had as a child, for all the work they put into making school a wonderful place to me.  When all is said and done you made me develop a passion for learning, you achieved your goal and turned me into a life long learner.  This post is a thank you for all your dedication and hours spent building up your classroom to make it the wonderful place I knew.

Thank You.

Why Hello There...

Hi all! I'm Lizz and this is not my first attempt at blogging but I am hoping that this attempt will be the one that is successful.  In one of my blogs I wrote about baking and cooking and in another I wrote about my quest to lose weight.  Working on these blogs was enjoyable however I ran out of things to write about and the chaos of life pushed writing to the back burner.  With this blog I will be writing about life.  Simple right?  I want my blog to be open to whatever comes my way.  I don't want to feel confined to one topic.I want to write about everything that I find interesting.

Some things you may want to know about me are:

1)I recently got a job as a 5th grade teacher and this summer will be spent preparing for that.

2)I love to travel; this summer I will be going to Punta Cana.

3)I love baking and cooking, so prepare for recipes.

4)I am an amateur photographer.

5)I am a yogi.

It is my hope that if you are reading this blog you are putting your faith in me that I will continue to work hard at this and it is my goal to not let my readers down.

Until tomorrow,
Au Revoir
